Welcome to my new website. Before you leave the home page, let me give you a brief overview of who I am and what you are about to see.

My Story

I retired from gainful employment as a designer at 61, and immediately began taking art classes, sure that I wanted to work as an artist, but unsure where I would end up. The decision to concentrate on ceramics came when it was least practical.

I went to Spain with my husband for his sabbatical, taking watercolors along because they were portable, confident that this would fill my time. Once we settled, I discovered that I had little desire to paint my undeniably beautiful surroundings, and realized that I really missed working in clay. This presented all kinds of logistical problems: finding supplies and studio space with a kiln and/or finding a class in a foreign language, not to mention, shipping work home. With help, I found studio space, supplies and a class. My decision was made.

The Website

As I began selling my work, the fact that I had no internet presence became a problem. Lackadaisical as I had been about documenting my work, assembling a portfolio was easier knowing I was working toward a website. My intent was not to create an online store, but to introduce myself and publish the best of what I had done, at least making my work accessible.

As you will see, this site has much more work documented than I need to show anyone. As I live with this public presence, I am sure that I will become more circumspect and edit the content. For the moment, it all reminds me of where I was and what I wanted out of each piece. Looking over the whole site I can imagine other things I want to do (or redo.) As for you, just speed through and enjoy.
